Smashball Labs have developed an artificial intelligence that can play as a goalie in any pickup match.
Behavior
- Position. It will try to maintain its position in front of the goal. It will face its target.
- Blocking. It will try to hit the block key if someone shoots the ball at the goal. There is a random delay between when it recognizes a shot and actually shoots the ball.
- Charging. It will pound the hell out of any enemies that come close with a forward charge.
- Shooting. It will deploy Spider Mines if there are no immediate threats. It will otherwise fire the Hellcannon at any enemy in sight, favoring the ballcarrier over all others.
Skill Scaling
The goaliebot has a delay time that determines how quickly it reacts when it blocks or attempts to charge. This delay time is fairly long against new players, and is reduced against more experienced players. The length of the delay time is determined based on the level of the enemy ballcarrier.
