The Grappling Hook provides a distinct twist to the game of Smashball. In conjunction with Turbo Moves, it releases the Smashball player from the confines of two-dimensional life. More simply put: it lets you go anywhere, really quickly.

Basic Use

Using the hook is a three step process:

How to be the Best Hooker you can!
1 Jump, Shoot, and Hold

Jump. Fire the hook, timing it so the hook hits the ceiling at the top of your jump. Hold the hook button down, and you will start swinging forward, while being reeled in at the same time.

2 Swing

Release the Hook Button to stop the reeling. The line will remain connected and you will swing freely. You have some air control from your movement keys during this time.

3 Release and Fly!

At the top of your swing, hit the Hook Button again to release the hook. You can now fire it again: do so before you hit the ground!

Technique

The reel-in power of the Hook is not that great. If you want to go up, try using Forward Turbo instead.

The way you swing around while on the rope is modeled on real physics. You will swing back and forth, you can slingshot yourself around parts of the map, etc.

Remember: the grappling hook is more similar to the way Spider-Man swings; you'll generally want to shoot the hook toward the ceiling, and about halfway between where you are and the area you want to be. Obviously, take into account any obstacles which may get in your way and adjust your hook target accordingly.
